I lived in a forest with Kokiri. Kokiri are always kids, they never grow up. Every Kokiri has a guardian fairy.


But I didn't have one. So I wasn't a real Kokiri. The leader said I wouldn't be a real man until I had a fairy.


I started having really bad nightmares about places I'd never seen. One time, it showed a town on fire, and a scary, evil man.


When I woke up from that nightmare, there was a fairy waiting for me. Her name is Navi. She said the Great Deku Tree sent her to tell me he wanted to talk to me. The Great Deku Tree is the father of all Kokiri, so it was an honor to be summoned by him.


The leader of the Kokiri wouldn't let me through to see the Great Deku Tree until I had a sword and a shield. I found rupees in the tall grass and under rocks, and bought a shield. The sword I had to find in a treasure chest hidden in the forest.


Finally, I got to meet the Great Deku Tree. The Great Deku Tree told me a story about an evil man who had cursed him.


The Great Deku Tree asked me to defeat the curse.


It was hard getting to the curse. There were monsters that tried to stop me, and puzzles I had to solve to get deeper to where the curse was hiding. The curse looked like a giant spider with one eye. Her name was Queen Gohma. I had to fight her to get rid of the curse. It was tough, but I defeated her.


The Great Deku Tree said that it was too late, and he was dying anyway. But he gave me the Kokiri's Emerald, and told me to leave the forest and find Princess Zelda. He asked Navi to come with me, and then he died.


The leader of the Kokiri blamed me. He said I killed the Great Deku Tree.


When I left, my friend Saria gave me her ocarina so I would think of her when I played it.
